"I am thrilled to say the Youth Club has received £5,500 funding from CWAC which is very important step on the road towards our target. We’ve also been tremendously encouraged by the support of Cuddington Parish Council, Borough Councillors as well as the pledges from individuals" says Steve Chivers, chair of the Youth Club group.
"SpaceHive suggests we now ask local businesses to see if they can help to get us across the line. If you are involved with a local business please can you ask them to see if they can help?" - PRESS HERE for the link.
We are pleased to report that the project has now achieved its target and the Youth Club team can start their preparation to implement their delivery plan. The ACE (Achieving Cheshire Excellence) awards are run annually by Cheshire Constabulary to recognise and celebrate good work across the force. One of the categories - Volunteer of the Year - was won by Sandiway resident Heather Thompson for her work with the Cheshire Neighbourhood Watch Association (CNWA). Heather received her award from the Police & Crime Commissioner John Dwyer at a dinner held at Nunsmere Hall on Friday 20th October.
As well as being a Neighbourhood Watch Coordinator for Hadrian Way, Heather has been involved with the CNWA since 2017, becoming increasingly active over that time until she took over as Chair of the Association in November 2022. The volunteer-run organisation is independent of, but works closely with, Cheshire Constabulary and exists to support and promote Neighbourhood Watch across Cheshire.
Heather said "I was delighted to be shortlisted for this award, and shocked to actually win it! I'd like to thank my colleague Clare Harrison of Cheshire Constabulary for nominating me for the award, and my fellow volunteers on the CNWA Committee for their ongoing support and commitment." More information about CNWA can be found at https://cheshirenw.org/home.
PS. Our website development team is equally proud as Heather has been instrumental within our small team in developing our current website. Well done Heather, you have certainly deserved it!
On Saturday 4th November St John's Church will officially open their new ramp.
"Please join us at 10am for a short opening ceremony or drop into church during the week to see our beautifully restored tiles. In November we’ll be open on weekdays from 10am-4pm and in December from 10am–2pm."
"Recent building work has rectified many of the access problems. A beautiful sandstone ramp now allows access for everyone via the main door of the church. Inside the building, the removal of four pews has created a much-needed space at the front of the nave giving disabled people far more choice about where they would like to sit when worshipping or attending an event at St John’s. T he new handrails on the chancel steps will also make it easier for people of all ages to move safely through the building. Another advantage of the modifications is that we now have an enlarged performance area to use for our monthly concerts and we are looking forward to the visit of the Tegid Harp Duo on 6th November!"
A kissing gate is to be installed on Kennel Lane to give access to the footpaths leading to Kennel Wood and Blakemere.
There have been a number of complaints from residents who walk these very popular routes and have difficulty crossing the stile which is currently there. This will be funded equally by our parish council and our Borough Councillors.
Cheshire West and Chester Council are asking the public for their views on local spending priorities. The budget consultation - Funding our future - will be open until 10 December 2023 and help to inform decisions that Councillors make in February 2024 on the overall Council budget.
The Council spends £941 million each year on services for local people. This is public money which pays for services that matter to residents and communities across the borough. It includes services that everyone benefits from every day, like emptying bins, removing litter and maintaining local roads. The bulk of the budget funds vital services which many people might be less aware of - particularly if they, or their family or friends, do not directly receive them.

Blakemere Village was supported by the Council's Business Development team to apply for the Council's Climate Emergency Fund (CEF), which provides funding for low carbon projects that support the borough's ambition of becoming carbon neutral by 2045. The family business, which has shops, craft workshops, a play barn and several attractions, has invested £165,000 in energy saving measures across their site, with £50,000 contributed through the CEF. Following a green audit of the business by Groundwork Cheshire, a local charity who support Cheshire businesses to become more sustainable, a plan to install 113 solar panels across three buildings was developed.
PRESS HERE to read more.
In 2015 the Cuddington and Sandiway Youth Club closed down. Concerned about the absence of activities for young people in the village a group of parents started to work with local volunteers and Councillors to provide a new youth Club for the village.
Since the Club re-opened in September 2021 progress has been amazing; the Club has a membership of over 100 registered and an average of 30 young people attend the sessions. The regular helpers continue to support the Club’s activities but they’re aware that they do need the support of qualified Youth Workers to enable them to continue, increase the number of sessions and add to the activities on offer.
Young people and Leaders are ambitious for the future and are seeking to develop the range of activities on offer.
Given how far they’ve traveled in the past 2 years who knows what the future will look like! To succeed they’ll need support from the whole Community, our businesses , local groups and individuals.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
The funding will enable us to open the Youth Club on a weekly basis and provide valuable activities for the young people in the village. Giving the young people a channel to express their creativity, learn from others and spend valuable time with their friends and making new ones.
Youth Club members are looking forward to working with Friends of Cuddington station, artists and pupils from the village schools to create a ceramic map of the village and its landmarks, developing a greater awareness of place, encouraging their creativity, and pride in their environment. Funding will help us to expand the work with local artists and enable members to sample a range of mediums and techniques.
Youth Club Members are passionate to support Cheshire West Climate Emergency and would welcome the opportunity via the funding to plant wild flowers to encourage biodiversity using an undeveloped area of the playing fields.
Steps to get it done:
The Youth Club nurtures and shapes young people and provides opportunities to develop life long skills, interests and enthusiasms.
The Youth Club has reduced instances of Anti-Social Behavior by providing a safe secure space.
To date the Government's Household Support Fund has supported many vulnerable residents within Cheshire West. The Fund is available to support those households in most need due to the rising cost of living, especially with energy costs, food, water bills and other essential items. School holiday food vouchers are also provided to families of pupils in receipt of free school meals before each of the school holiday periods, up until February half term 2024.
In this latest round of funding, £2,290,047 has been allocated to the Council for the period up to 31 March 2024. The Fund is intended to support a wide range of low-income households including families with children of all ages, pensioners, unpaid carers, care leavers and disabled people.

Cheshire West and Chester Council is carrying out a consultation on polling districts and stations across the borough. It asks anyone living in the borough to comment on current polling districts and stations and suggest alternative locations that could be used. The process affects voting arrangements for the parliamentary constituencies of Eddisbury & Weaver Vale (which contain our Wards) and where polling districts form part of the Council's polling scheme. The consultation runs until 6 November 2023.
The review will also take into consideration the final recommendations of the 2023 parliamentary boundary review undertaken by the Boundary Commission England (where most of our residents are proposed to move from Eddisbury into Chester South and Eddisbury County Constituency).

Message from Councillor Gillian Edwards - Weaver & Cuddington Ward CWAC:
"I’m delighted to let you know that the speed Indicator devices for Sandiway and Cuddington will be installed by the end of October! I’ve worked closely for the last few years with Cuddington Parish Council and Cuddington Parish Clerk since we identified the need for them in the village. There will be more poles than devices to enable us to rotate the signs throughout the village and help identify speeding hotspots. The first 2 signs to be installed will be on Weaverham Road and Chester Road.
Well done to Cuddington Parish Council, such a brilliant community initiative 👏 #community #safety"

Following a report from Cheshire Police on Sunday (3rd Sept) night regarding a road collapse on A556 Shurlach Road in Lostock Gralam, an emergency road closure was put in place to make the area safe. The A556 is now closed between the A559 Manchester Road and A530 King Street roundabout in a westbound direction.
Following site investigations the following Monday, works are needed to repair a damaged drainage pipe in the carriageway which has caused the road to collapse. Due to the depth of the drainage pipe and its close proximity to the centre line, the road will need to remain closed for safety reasons while the repair works are carried out. These emergency repairs works are being co-ordinated to start Tuesday 5 September with the aim to re-open the road as soon as possible. It is expected that the road will need to remain closed that first week, so that the works can be undertaken safely.
PRESS HERE for more information. Suggest you avoid the area if you can.
UPDATE on Wednesday 6th: Looking at Google Maps this Wednesday, the A556 appears to be closed both ways. Check before you travel.
UPDATE on Friday 15th: Again looking at Google Maps this Friday, the A556 is still closed westbound.
Travelling through there today, it looks as if the work will continue well into next week. Check before you travel.
[PRESS HERE for the latest official news - according to this, "excavations (will be) required in the central reservation to gain access to repair the drainage collapse, with the eastbound lane being closed (Manchester bound)".]
UPDATE on Wednesday 27th: According to Google Maps, the A556 is back open both ways. Disruption over.

Residents in west Cheshire have an opportunity to sign-up to a group-buying scheme for solar panels and battery storage. It is free to register and there is no obligation to go ahead with an installation.
West Cheshire residents can join the group-buying scheme, which offers solar panels with optional battery storage and EV charge points. The scheme also offers retrofit battery storage for residents who have already invested in solar panels and are looking to get more from the renewable energy they generate, as well as increase their independence from the grid.
This innovative scheme builds on six years of a successful Solar Together programme, run across the UK. To date Solar Together has delivered over 22,000 installations and over 460,000 tonnes of avoided lifetime carbon emissions.
PRESS HERE to find out more - residents have until 10pm on Friday, 27 October to register their interest in the scheme.

Although not actually in our parish, we would like to promote this environmental project in Hartford to our readers:
What is Marshall's Arm?
"Designated a Local Nature Reserve in 1998, for wildlife and people. This woodland lies close to the River Weaver , the arm refers to the shape of the river. The 3 fingers of woodland are full of wildlife and a wide variation of trees. Well kept by a team of volunteers, paths follow the meandering streams up from the river." (Woodland Trust)

What events does the celebration comprise?
There’s great excitement in Cartledge Close as residents have received a letter from Sky Movies about the filming of a feature film ‘Robin and the Hood’, a children’s fantasy adventure. The filming, generally between 8am and 7 pm, will take place in and around the Close and the Moss during August and September.
The film will follow the adventures of 11–year old Robin and his loyal band of friends who play in the scrubland at the end of their cul–de-sac, using their imaginations to turn it into a magical kingdom. Then slippery property developer ‘Clipboard’ comes on the scene with promises of health spas and day care facilities in the area.
How Robin and his friends react against this sea of change and unbelieving adults will be revealed when the film is released!
Cheshire West and Chester Council is to launch an on-demand rural bus service - to help improve connectivity in some of the more remote parts of the borough.
The new 'itravel' pilot scheme will cover a wide area including Helsby, Frodsham, Delamere and Acton Bridge, as well as some other villages (including Cuddington/Sandiway), where no commercial services are available. The bus service can be booked online, using a mobile phone app, or phone call, which allows a resident, or group of residents, to request a bus for a specific journey - bookings are now open and the service launched on 31 July 2023 with an introductory single £2 flat fare to mirror the Government's national scheme (people aged 19 and under can travel half fare and English National Concessionary pass holders travel FREE).
The service is not tied to a fixed route, allowing for quick and efficient shared trips without lengthy detours or fixed schedules, however it will link to train stations to further enhance connectivity for these areas. Two branded 16-seater 'mini' buses will be available between 7am and 7pm, Monday to Friday, with low-floor access. The area covered excludes, for example, Hartford Station and Northwich, but includes:
This £1.075m, three-year pilot service has been funded by the Department for Transport's Rural Mobility Fund.

Many residents in our village use Hartford Station for rail journeys north or south. Many have equally used the ticket office at that station and have found that the staff there are a mine of helpful information about rail services - they are also the only staff on the Station if you need assistance. This manned ticket office service is now under threat of closure and if you feel strongly about keeping the service we would encourage you to express your views in the consultation which is currently open.
Passenger Focus have been commissioned by the Train Operators to carry out this national consultation, which closes on 26 July (Wednesday) 1st September.
PRESS HERE to enter your comments.
UPDATE:
The deadline to respond to consultations has been extended to 1 September 2023. See www.transportfocus.org.uk/news/ticket-office-consultation-extension-transport-focus-statement for more information.
Anthony Smith, chief executive of the independent watchdog Transport Focus, commented:
“Transport Focus and London TravelWatch have received more than 170,000 comments already. This feedback is currently being logged and reviewed alongside individual train operator proposals."
“It is important that a diverse range of views from all parts of the community are heard in this consultation. New comments received will be read, considered and used in discussions with train companies in the coming weeks.”

In September a new group is starting in the Village Hall on Norley Road - the group is being run by Melissa (email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.)
The group will be on a Wednesday 9.00 am until 3.00 pm. It is a home education group for ages 7 to 11.
Cheshire West and Chester Council is launching another funding round on the Cheshire West Crowd, providing plenty of opportunities for community projects to bring their ideas to life.
The Cheshire West Crowd, run by the Council in partnership with Spacehive, allows everyone to put forward community-led projects and attract funding to make the borough more vibrant, resilient and connected.
PRESS HERE to learn more about the opportunity for your community.
Also note that Sandiway Library are holding a free drop-in session about the crowdfunding platform for community projects on Friday 7 July from 10-12pm (on the same day as their "Library Social" from 11-12:30pm).
TEN YEARS AGO THIS MONTH, the first trains ran at Sandiway Miniature Railway.
When the Society was asked to vacate the site of its previous railway, members began the search for a new one. In the long run, the move to Sandiway has proved to be the making of the Society. It now owns the woodland site in which it has built the 460 metre long circuit of track along which it carries members of the public every Sunday throughout the year.
Its tenth anniversary is to be celebrated in a charity gala weekend on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 July.
Normal fares for the weekend will be suspended; instead, passengers will be asked to make a donation to the Joshua Tree, to whom all proceeds from the weekend’s activities will be given. This charity is based in Dalefords Lane, a short walk from the railway, and provides bespoke programmes of support to improve the emotional well-being and mental health of all immediate and extended family members who are affected by childhood cancers, for as long as they need it.
As well as the Society’s own locomotives, some special guest locomotives will be making appearances. It is also planned to have a steam traction engine giving rides through the woods. For a slightly larger donation, you will be able to drive a locomotive for yourself as driver experiences will be available on the second circuit at Sandiway!
Opening hours on both days will be from 12:00 noon until 4:00 pm and access is via the top car park at Blakemere .

Shortly before George Wilbraham left Delamere House around 1930 the Wilbraham family’s long serving cook and house keeper a Mrs McClewley retired. She was offered a gift of a bungalow for life. A bungalow then known as “The Sheilings” now known as “Bowling Green Cottage” was built for her on land owned by the Wilbraham family on Norley Road.
The building of this bungalow left an odd piece of adjacent land too large for the old and now widowed house keeper to use as a garden. As a result this land was leased to the village through Cuddington Parish Council. It was stipulated that this land was to be used as an amenity for the common good. It was decided that a village bowling green would be a suitable use and in line with the spirit of the Wilbraham family's gift to the village.
On hearing of this outcome George Wilbraham was in full agreement and donated a trophy “The Wilbraham Cup” to the club which is still competed for every year by the members to this day.
This year's competition for the Wilbraham Cup was held on June 10th and the winner was Sally McConnell of Delamere Park who became only the second lady in the long history of the competition to win the trophy.
Ian Smith, the Club Chairman, said it is wonderful that the Wilbraham Cup bowling competition, which is entwined with so much village history, is still attracting great interest in the village and there is no reason why it should not do so for many years to come with new members coming to the club every year.
Hazel Watts, the Ladies Captain, said that it is wonderful that a lady had won the trophy and an inspiration to the lady members of the club.
Kathryn Holmes has been Musical Director at St John's for the past 30 years with all that that entails. She organises monthly musical concerts and lunches for the village and many other concerts besides. She also has been the driving force behind the Ark Community cafe and its team of volunteers which during Covid also prepared and delivered over a hundred lunches per week to our village community. Kathryn has been one of the main instigators behind us having a weekly food hub in the village for which we have seen an unprecedented demand in recent weeks.
Kathryn has the ability to motivate and inspire people to get involved in helping in the community with her boundless energy and enthusiasm.
Over the past 12 months Emily and William have been a huge help to mum and dad, helping with housework and caring for their 2 dogs while mum has suffered with a displaced spinal disc and been hospitalised on numerous occasions. William, then aged 6, phoned 999 when mum’s spinal disc displaced, and then rang dad to come home. Emily has helped with getting mum dressed on days when she couldn’t even get out of bed. Through all this they didn’t complain when they were unable to have holidays or days out and still carried on with their school work, and even joined a community litter pick.
- by the end of 2025, all telephone services that currently use the copper network will be switched over to operate over the internet

The Village Event of the Year is nearly upon us - make sure that you mark your diary with:
There will be so much to see and so much to do - we hope you will enjoy what's on offer!
It is anticipated that Norley Road, between Sandiway School and the Round Tower, will be closed for one day during w/c Monday 12 June for resurfacing work. "A through route will not always be available and any vehicles not requiring access to properties on the length of road should use alternative routes."

The Youth Club will normally now be opening every week for anyone between the ages of 11 and 17 from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. However, due to the space being used in preparations for Gala Day on 10 June, the Youth Club will not be opening this Friday. It is expected that 'normal service' will resume the following week.
We have had a number of people who have offered to volunteer, but we are still looking for more helpers so please contact the club’s secretary Steve on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or phone 07775-733333 if you are willing to assist.
Preparations are now complete and the Youth Club looks fantastic and ready to welcome guests:
Extraction in the current quarry area is due to cease in 2023 and restoration to grazing and woodland planting will be completed by the end of 2024. Work will now commence in the Northern Extension area - this extension is just to the south of the railway line and east of Littledales Gorse. It will provide about 4 years of extraction. The temporary access to this site will be via the A49, Millington Lane and Weaverham Road.
Cemex are aware that this land is used by walkers and have issued the following statement:
“This field has no public rights of way; however, it is well used by walkers who tend to walk around the perimeter of the field (solid yellow). We don’t want to restrict people walking around the field, we simply want to control access and keep walkers (and their dogs) safe. We are proposing to divert people walking around the field to a single safe crossing point across the haul road (dashed yellow) and will have to consider stopping access along the south of the field access (circled blue).”

They have sown wildflower seeds, so they will bloom red, white and blue this summer, seed bookmarks will be given away and there will be themed children’s craft sessions. The Coronation’s themes are “youth, community, diversity and sustainability” which led the Library Service, which is already involved in the Council’s plans to tackle the Climate Emergency, to think more about sustainability.
One thousand plantable seed paper bookmarks, specially printed with the Coronation logo, will be distributed by the libraries - after being used in books, watering them will allow the wildflower seed to germinate and grow. Simple instructions on how to do this will be given out with the bookmarks.

You may have already seen the news that we’re raising money for a permanent ramp at the front of church – so that EVERYONE can get in. At a time when our welcome should be open to all, too many people are struggling to even get through our front door. By its nature, this problem can be invisible – people who can’t get into the building will simply not turn up to our services or events in most cases. But in the last few months alone, we have seen multiple funerals and baptisms where people have had difficulty getting over the steps.
Accessibility is something we’ve been trying to tackle for years. You may remember earlier attempts such as our portable ramps for each individual step – these helped some, but were too light for motorised wheelchairs and quickly became slippery. We have also tried to put in a (cheaper) semi-permanent ramp, similar to the one at the church hall, but this has been denied at planning permission stage, and our appeals have been unsuccessful. We are now in a position where we have been told that, given our John Douglas building and heritage status, we will only be given planning permission and Diocesan agreement for a ramp which is “in keeping” with the current building. This means something designed by an architect, permanent, and faced with sandstone to match our church. Unfortunately equality in this case comes with a hefty price tag.
We recognise that for many, this appeal comes at a bad time – in the middle of a difficult winter. Some people cannot afford to support this ramp appeal, and others have limited funds for giving: if you have to choose between donating to the ramp appeal and the Food Bank, please choose the Food Bank! But if you are in the fortunate position of having enough to donate to the ramp appeal without affecting your other charitable giving, please consider donating and helping us to right this wrong permanently.
We launched our appeal in November through the council website. Thanks to everyone’s generous support, we managed to get over 50 backers registered in just 2 weeks – an incredible show of support which helped convince Cheshire West and Chester Council to pledge £4,500 to us.
We would like to thank all of the individuals who have supported the appeal so far, and also the businesses & organisations who have donated. By mid January, these included: Alter Studio, Cuddington Cattery, Four Paws Cuddington, St John’s Choir, JIMS, the Mothers Union, Toolerstone, the Vale Royal Recorder Consort, The Nutty Knitters, The Hair Company, Bollywood Dance for Fun, Redwalls Nursing Home, and Jacqueline Wilson Funeral Directors.
We now have over £35,000 of £56,000 already pledged – over 60% – and are incredibly grateful to everyone that has helped us reach this amount. However, the nature of the council-backed appeal site is that we need to reach 100% of our target by February 28th, or all donations made on the site will be returned to the givers.
That means we have just a month left to raise £21,000. We are holding a series of events in February for the Heritage Building Appeal, which means all money raised will go to support the project:
In addition, if you are able to give any amount – THANK YOU so much! - to give by card, please go to www.spacehive.com/a-ramp-for-st-johns-sandiway and make (or increase) your pledge; to give by cash or cheque, please hand your donations to the welcomers at any service (Gift Aid forms are also available).
If you have any questions, please ask John Goulden or Ali Fletcher, who would be happy to talk about the project.
Work on the tower is still ongoing. In the meantime, there has also been an overwhelming response to the ramp appeal.
St John's are hugely grateful for the generosity of over 210 donors, and also to everyone who supported the events for the ramp - the Quiz Night, the Mini Market, the February concert, the Valentine's Singalong and last Saturday's Parisian evening.
We can confirm that The Ramp Appeal has hit its target! A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who has supported this initiative, by prayer or by giving, by spreading the word, or by coming to or helping at any of the fundraising events. There has been an amazing response, from the church family and the wider community. Please watch out for updates on progress over the coming months.
Work can now start on the plans to put a permanent ramp in place for St John's 120th anniversary year!

Northwich Library will be opening in its temporary location at Weaver Hall Museum on Monday 30 January, while the library building on Witton Street is being renovated (PRESS HERE for more). One result of this change is that the temporary extended opening hours at Sandiway library will end on Saturday 28 January and it will return to their standard opening times - to remind you, these are:
One further innovation is the upcoming iPad lending scheme. This will allow residents to boost their digital skills by borrowing a device from their local library. It will also make it easier for residents without their own technology to access a full range of Council Services. LiBS (the Library iPad Borrowing Scheme) will provide devices for residents to borrow for a six-week period from any Cheshire West and Chester Library.
PRESS HERE to learn more, or call the library on 01606-271767.
It was announced on 19 January that "Winnington Bridge Corridor has not received funding from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities' Levelling Up Fund". This means that the congestion over the existing single-track swing bridge connecting Winnington to Barnton will continue into the future, especially with all the new housing springing up in Winnington.
PRESS HERE for more information from the council.
Come along with your bikes.
Police and Crime Commissioner John Dwyer is asking people across Cheshire about their policing priorities for the coming year and the police precept – the part of Council Tax that funds Cheshire Constabulary. More than 40% of Cheshire Constabulary’s funding came from Council Tax in 2022/23 - this key part of the police budget has enabled the Constabulary to make several improvements in areas most important to the public, including:
If you would like to read more and/or have your say, please PRESS HERE.
The consultation and the survey will close at midday on Tuesday 24 January.
Cheshire Fire Authority is also launching a consultation on its precept (its share of council tax) for the forthcoming 2023/2024 financial year.
Cheshire Fire Authority is the publicly accountable body responsible for providing a fire and rescue service to the communities of Cheshire. The Authority has two main sources of income; grants from government (which make up around 33% of its budget) and through local council tax (which accounts for 67%of its budget). For the last financial year in 2022/23, the Authority had a total budget of £46.6m.
Unfortunately, the Authority is now facing further significant financial pressures, for example as a result of increases in the cost of energy and pay increases for staff (which are negotiated on a national basis and not always funded by the Government). Even after identifying a significant amount of savings, the Authority could be facing a funding gap of nearly £1m when it attempts to settle its 2023/24 budget; potentially more depending on the outcome of the pay dispute involving firefighters.
If you would like to read more and/or have your say, please PRESS HERE. The consultation and the survey will close on Monday 23 January.
The following three initiatives will start this month at the Library:
Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) are closed on New Year's Day.
On the other days during the holiday period, HWRCs in Winsford and Northwich will be open at their usual times (note Northwich HWRC is closed Wednesdays & Thursdays). Site opening times during the Winter are 8am-4pm.
Real Christmas trees can be taken for reuse to the following sites any time in January 2023:
Signage will advise where to place the trees, which will be chipped and used as mulch on existing shrub-beds in the borough.
Alternatively you can make use of the Charity collections. Just Helping raise money for local hospices by collecting and recycling real trees - residents can use the link below to register with St Luke's Hospice for their Tree Collection service:
St Luke's: Christmas tree collection
Collections will be from Thursday, 12 January 2023 - Sunday, 15 January 2023 (registration for this service closes on Sunday 8th January 2023).
Garden waste collections ended on 5 December and will resume on or after 27 February 2023. Subscriptions can now be made for 2023 garden waste collections.

A message from Steve Chivers, Chair of Youth Club - Sandiway and Cuddington:
"I am thrilled to say we have been successful in our bid to John Dwyer, the Police & Crime Commissioner for Cheshire’s Community Action Fund. The funding has been awarded to employ a Youth Worker for the Youth Club and allow the club to open on a more regular basis.
We are committed to doing all we can to prevent anti-social behaviour in the village and this project will encourage even more young people to get involved. With an increase in youth club sessions and a wider range of activities we hope to attract young people not currently engaged in positive activities from the community, diverting them away from trouble. Our sessions will be tailored to the needs of the young people attending to ensure they are engaging and give us the best opportunity to develop positive relationships."
PRESS HERE for the full Press Release from the Youth Club team.
We are pleased to hear that the Youth Club team have been able to hire a Youth Worker and so they plan now to open every Friday in 2023. The next Youth Club meeting will be Friday 6th January and they plan to open every Friday from then on.
The Youth Club still need volunteers and if you are interested, please contact their Secretary Steve Chivers on 07775733333 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

The following strike dates have been announced:
Expect disruption before and after these dates. There is also a new overtime and rest day working ban - the railways typically work on the assumption that staff will work overtime and on rest days; a union ban on this could cause further havoc.
