We are once again holding our very popular scarecrow competition.  The theme of this year’s gala is STORYBOOK ANIMALS

There are 3 categories:

  • Households - intended for the occupants of one dwelling (typically families)
  • Commercial Organisations - businesses
  • Voluntary Organisations - clubs, charity groups etc. (not for profit groups)

Entries can be made via email - see contact information below, or left at the library.

Please ensure that you have given the following information;

  1. Name of organization or individual and a contact telephone number (for households please give family name)
  2. Full address, with postcode, where your scarecrow will be displayed
  3. Which category your entry is for, (H, C, V)

Entries should be submitted by Friday May 31st

  • Scarecrows should represent an animal character from a story book . The scarecrow must be a minimum of 4 feet high; maximum - the sky is the limit.
  • Your scarecrow must be within the parish boundary and be on private land but clearly visible from the public highway. Judges will not enter private property.
  • A sign will be delivered to you just before judging commences showing your entry number. This must be displayed by your scarecrow to ensure that the
  • judges don’t miss it.
  • Judging will take place between June 1st and June 6th. Your scarecrow should be in place for all of that period. Please take a photo of your scarecrow, sadly
  • there have been isolated incidents of vandalism occurring before judging is completed.
  • There will be a winner and a runner up prize for each category and other prizes may be awarded at the judges’ discretion.
  • Winners will be announced at the Gala on June 8th.
