The Primary Care Commissioning committee (a sub-committee of the NHS Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group) met on 5 November to make a decision on the Danebridge proposal to close Sandiway Surgery.
The Save Our Surgery Residents Action Group produced and presented a second report for that committee. The Action Group has the full backing of Cuddington Parish Council, the Borough Councillors for this area and our local MP Edward Timpson, and has around 900 signatures of support from patients.
The PCC decision was to defer their decision until their next meeting on 4th February. In the meantime they are going to request specific actions from Danebridge to consult with patients through our Action Group initially to address:
Impact on patients
To demonstrate why closing Sandiway is a better decision than closing Kingsmead
To come up with solutions for meds monitoring, samples, blood tests, prescriptions etc which are still up in the air
The idea of focus groups was suggested but clearly the Covid situation will impact on that.
The PCC were clear that there is still work to do before they can support an application for closure of Sandiway, and have given Danebridge a great opportunity to engage properly with their patients to explain to them the reasons they want to close the surgery, to resolve the issues listed and to reassure their patients that they are not being left to fend for themselves for Primary Care in Cuddington and Sandiway.
