Safety tips to help prevent romance fraud:

·        Don't rush into an online relationship – get to know the person, not the profile. Ask plenty of questions.

·        Analyse their profile – confirm the person's identity. Check the person is genuine by putting their name, profile pictures or any repeatedly used phrases and the term 'dating scam' into your search engine.

·        Never send money or share your bank details with someone you've only met online, no matter what reason they give or how long you've been speaking to them.

·        Stay on the dating site messenger service - don't use email, phone, social media or other messaging apps until you're confident the person is who they say they are.

·        Most importantly talk to your friends and family  - be wary of anyone who tells you not to tell others about them.

If you think you have been a victim of fraud, contact your bank immediately and report it to Action Fraud by calling 0300 123 2040.

Neighbourhood Watch - What is it?

Neighbourhood Watch, sometimes known as Home Watch, is nationwide and one of the most successful crime prevention initiatives ever. The idea behind Neighbourhood Watch (NW) schemes is that neighbours come together to build community safety awareness and promote neighbourliness. They are led by volunteer coordinators who work with their neighbours and the local PCSO and police officers to address any local crime issues and undertake crime prevention activities. Coordinators receive information from the police to pass on to neighbours and encourage their neighbours to pass information about anything suspicious to police. Schemes can be large, covering for example, most of the households on an estate, or they might involve just half a dozen houses. Amongst the advantages of joining established NW schemes are that they are proven to reduce local crime such as burglary, vandalism, car thefts and thefts from cars. Better community spirit is also fostered, and crime prevention advice can be efficiently and quickly circulated throughout a community.

How do I get involved?

To find out if there is already a NW scheme in your area, go to www.ourwatch.org.uk and enter your postcode. If there is a scheme that already covers where you live you can ask to join it and the coordinator for the scheme will be in touch with you.

If there isn’t a scheme nearby, you can consider setting one up. You can do this through the "ourwatch" website by clicking to create a scheme. Alternatively, send an email to the mailbox for the Cheshire Neighbourhood Watch Association: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

The Cheshire Neighbourhood Watch Association was constituted in 2016 to promote and support NW schemes across Cheshire, and they work in partnership with Cheshire Police and the Police and Crime Commissioner. Assistance is available to residents wishing to join a scheme, to coordinators wishing to re-invigorate their existing scheme, and for those wishing to start new NW schemes. The volunteer team at CNWA can update details on the NW database, provide general advice and support, and send out Coordinator Packs containing all of the materials needed to get started, including leaflets and stickers. They can be contacted using the mailbox: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

You said … PCSO visible patrol made this week in locations of concern raised on your RV survey feedback to provide reassurance to our community around LIME AVENUE and WEAVERHAM NORTHWICH ROAD shops/alleys. All in order.

You said … speed was a concern on CHESTER ROAD.  Speed enforcement conducted and no offences were captured this afternoon.  Possibly due to temporary traffic lights at DEFINE WINES lights.

PCSO engagement with WEAVERHAM HIGH SCHOOL, CUDDINGTON PRIMARY SCHOOL and SANDIWAY PRIMARY SCHOOL to discuss community issues/concerns.

PCSO reassurance visit made to SANDIWAY LIBRARY to discuss concerns regarding littering of creamer cannisters found within their carpark.  Several patrols made this week and all found to be in order.

SCHOOL parking patrol conducted around CUDDINGTON PRIMARY SCHOOL, no parking obstructions witnessed.

Operation Park Safe is a new project which will allow members of the public to report parking issues online.

As part of the scheme, residents will be able to upload videos and photographs of offending vehicles where they will be assessed by an experienced traffic officer, who will triage and deal with any dangerous parking offences.

Any minor traffic obstructions, or community impact issues will be allocated to the local PCSO or Beat officers to deal with in an appropriate manner.

What residents will need to do:

  • You will need to provide a written statement about the offence, including the date and time it happened. This can be completed electronically.
  • You will need to provide us with your name, address, date of birth and contact details.
  • You may be required to attend court if the matter is contested.
  • Do NOT challenge the driver or get involved in confrontation.
  • Do NOT put yourself at risk to obtain a photograph.

What officers will do:

  • The Roads and Crime Unit will triage the report and will deal with the person responsible. This may include issuing fines or educational courses depending on the severity of the offence committed.

Offences officers will deal with:

  • Vehicles parked on or in a crossing area: This includes the area covered by zig-zag lines.
  • Parking on white lines: People cannot stop or park on a road marked with double white lines, even when a broken white line is on your side of the road, except to pick up or set down passengers, or to load or unload goods. This includes the pavement or verge.
  • Forcing pedestrians to walk in road: This includes parking on the pavement where there is not enough room for pedestrians to get past.
  • Parking at/on a junction: Vehicles cannot stop, park opposite or within 10m of a junction.
  • School parking offences: People cannot stop or park on the zig-zag lines or keep clear markings.
  • Parking on a cycle track
  • Parking a goods vehicle on the road: Vehicles with a maximum laden wight of more than 7.5 tonnes (including trailers) cannot park on a verge, pavement or any land situated between carriageways, without police permission. The only exception is when this is essential for loading and unloading, but the vehicle cannot be left unattended.

What officers can’t deal with:

  • Single and double yellow line offences: These are local authority parking enforcement only.
  • Pavement parking: This is where there is still room for pedestrians to get past without having to go into the road.
