Crime Update
On Tuesday 7th March 2017 a 59 year old blind victim from the Bateman Road area of Lostock had two males call at his address offering to trim his trees. A price was agreed and the two males cut some trees down and then took the victim to a local ATM machine to get money out for the work completed. The victim handed over his bank card and pin number and money was withdrawn from the machine. The two suspects returned the victim back home then left the area. The victim later identified £300 had been stolen from his bank account and informed the police.
As a result of our enquires on Wednesday 29th March 2017 a 39 year old male from Winsford was arrested and later charged with the theft and remanded in custody. He was given bail by the courts.
This was a particular nasty crime against a vulnerable victim.
I would urge all residents to keep a look out for your neighbours and don’t be afraid to ring the police if you think something is acting suspicious or taking advantage of a neighbour.
At approximately 09:45hrs on Saturday 25th March 2017 a 84 year old female was targeted at her home in Riddings Lane Hartford. A callous thief going door to door called at her home address claiming the neighbour had asked him to cut back a tree. The victim whilst checking with her husband left the offender near the front door. He then entered the property and stole her purse. The offender was described as a white male, mid 40,s slim build with brown hair and glasses wearing a polo shift.
On 29th March 2017 police have arrested a 39 year old suspect for the offence but at this present time have insufficient evidence to charge him.
We are appealing to the community for any witnesses in the area who may have seen anyone acting suspicious to contact the Police on 101 quoting incident number 440 of 25/03/17.
I would urge all residents to keep a look out for your neighbours and don’t be afraid to ring the police if you think something is acting suspicious or taking advantage of a neighbour.
At approximately 2:30am on Sunday 19th March 2017 after what appears to be a verbal dispute in a takeaway on Witton Street, a twenty one year old male was attacked outside by four similar aged males.  The victim was punched and kicked on the ground.  The victim was taken to hospital where it was discovered he had suffered a punctured lung from a broken rib.
As a result of police enquires four males have now been interviewed regarding the incident and bailed whilst the investigation is concluded. If anyone witnesses the incident please contact Northwich Police on telephone number 101 quoting incident number 608 of 19/03/17.
Attempt Robbery
At approximately 09:55hrs on Friday 24th March 2017 a male entered the Post Office on Swanlow Lane, Winsford and threatened the two female members of staff that he had a gun and demanded cash. The cashier threw a carton of milk at the offender and he fled the scene. No firearm was seen by the victims, no cash stolen but the victims were shocked and alarmed at the actions of the offender. Police attended the scene and a short time after arrested a 40 year old local male in the Winsford area. He was later charged with attempt robbery, possession of an imitation firearm and 5 unrelated shoplifting offences and has been remanded in custody.
These types of offences are very rare and I would like to thank the support of the community and witnesses for supporting the police in this incident with a speedy conclusion.

I am once again organising a Charity Boxing Tournament and dinner with support from New Era Boxing Club and Winnington Park Rugby Union Club. The event is to raise vital funds for St Luke’s Hospice and the New Era Boxing Club.
The event will be at 7pm on Saturday 10th June 2017 in a grand marquee at Winnington Park Rugby Club, Burrows Hill, Hartford.
The night will consist of 12 bouts of ABA junior and senior boxing, a three course meal, raffle and charity auction. This will be the fifth such event I have organised in recent years raising over £30,000 for local charities.  This is a great night for the local boxers to showcase their efforts in front of a crowd of 300 people.
Tickets will be £45 per head tables of 10.  I hope businesses both from Northwich and Winsford and the community will support the event to raise funds for worthy causes.
