After a successful relaunch three years ago, and support from a local “Space Hive” campaign, Cuddington And Sandiway Youth Club has been providing fun and inspiring activities for local young people and volunteering opportunities for adults. The club is now set to grow its artistic offering within the club and beyond.
We have been successful in getting a grant from Cheshire West Voluntary Action, Cuddington and Sandiway Parish Council and Northwich Rotary to start a new mosaic project. The project, called “Putting Us On The Map”, will start off with a challenge, inviting young people from the club and local schools to send in a photo of their favourite village places. The photos will be simplified into drawings and will form the backbone of a mosaic which will take shape in collaboration with the group's local mosaic artist. After many hands making light work, the finished mosaic will find its forever home as a gift to Cuddington Station in 2025.
Youth club chair Stephen Chivers said; “We want this project to give something back to our young people, maybe helping them to find something that they love to do as a hobby or even as a career. Inspiring them to use their creative muscles to relax, do things together and enjoy life.”
Friend of Cuddington Station, Val Godfrey said “We want our station to be an attractive place from which young and old can set off on exciting rail journeys. We have been talking about this project for a while and its great to see it getting off the ground.”
If you are a young person who would like to take up the challenge and see your ideas featured on the mosaic, photograph your favourite village place and post it along with a comment on what you like about it to bethbarlow.com/blog/my-favourite-cuddington-place.
Note: the Village Youth Club meet every Friday evening from 7 - 9pm in the Youth Club building on the Norley Road Playing Fields. Anyone aged 11 to 17 is more than welcome to attend and find out more about this worthwhile project.

Week 23 – AL (annual leave) Week 24 It’s important for children to learn about personal safety, including online safety from an early age. Discussing crime and consequences can also help them understand the importance of making responsible choices. SANDIWAY PRIMARY SCHOOL and I delivered valuable work in educating the whole school about these important topics. Well done to all pupils for demonstrating their knowledge and understanding around the topics.
School parking at SANDIWAY PRIMARY SCHOOL conducted enforcing parking regulations for the safety of pupils and pedestrians. Parking too close to junctions can obstruct visibility creating hazards for everyone, hopefully this initiative will help to improve road safety in the area.
Speed enforcement conducted on WEAVERHAM ROAD, SANDIWAY. Nice to see all motorists respected the speed limit in place.
Glorious weather for fun family time at WEAVERHAM FUNFAIR on LAKEHOUSE FIELD opposite the main shops. Nice to see everyone creating special memories in the sun.
NORTHWICH LPU, SC CHAPMAN and SC THOMPSON conducted speed enforcement on NORTHWICH ROAD, WEAVERHAM on 29/04 and 06/05. 3 motorists stopped and reported for exceeding the speed limit in place.
This week I meet with WEAVERHAM PARISH chair and several councillors to discuss community engagement of future planning of events including D Day celebrations. Together we addressed parking operations and concerns discussing knife crime prevention initiatives like OP SCEPTRE and community cohesion group opportunity.
Following regular reported parking obstructions around ST BEDES PRIMARY SCHOOL, patrol was made, and no obstructions witnessed. Further patrols will be made to provide reassurance to our community.
You said, we did … speed observations, monitoring and community speed watch initiatives were conducted on ASH ROAD, FARM ROAD, EAST LANE, ST JOHNS WAY and WEAVER VIEW. Several motorists captured exceeding the speed limit. Police warning letters issued.
